My Side of the Mountain
Nelson Lakes National Park is a realist painter's paradise and often on our list of winter 'essential trips'. On this occasion we were staying at our favourite Lake Rotoiti holiday home, BeechHaven, when we decided to explore the Rainbow Road from the gate beyond the Rainbow Skifield. We followed the Wairau River upstream ambling through farmland with the Raglan Range on our left and the St Arnaud Range to our right. The morning sun was highlighting this peak on the Raglan Range when it caught Peter's eye.
