Thousands of wading birds depart their northern feeding and breeding grounds of the Siberian tundra and arrive in Golden Bay and other coastal regions of NZ. The tidal flats of Pohara Beach, Golden Bay are rich feeding grounds for many resident and migrant wading birds. Golden Bay is a dramatic landscape of shifting sand, as a product of the wind and the ocean currents.
