Carved in Sand - Farewell Spit
In September we walked several kilometres down the inside beach of Farewell Spit and crossed to the outer beach over the sand dunes. Small patches of marram grass and spinifex clung tenaciously to wind-swept sandcastles. With the exception of these, the landscape was effectively barren and desert-like. Peter was completely inspired by the simplicity of this environment and 'Carved in Sand' was the result of this excursion.
