Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park, was created by glacial activity. The U-shaped valley is evident in this work, which I painted from Kerr Bay looking south. The Department of Conservation and local community have created a successful ‘Mainland Island’ project and rid the 5000 hectare forest, of introduced predators. Native birdlife is now abundant.
