Peter painted 'Low Tide - Rototai' to celebrate and bring awareness to estuaries. Estuaries, salt marshes, seagrass beds and mangroves are being degraded internationally by pollution, sedimentation, resource exploitation, water diversion and ecosystem conversion. How positive is it to see in Golden Bay riparian planting of creeks and streams, livestock exclusion from rivers and estuaries and policies in place to discourage the drainage of wetlands? As we all become more aware of human driven environmental change we should also value our coastal ecosystems.
