In August last year we drove into Mt Cook on a clear day. We watched the forecast for several days prior to the trip and managed to pick a perfect weather window. With every turn in the road the valley opened before us and vista just kept getting better. What a treat! With low snow and clear skies the splendour of the landscape was overwhelmingly beautiful. This painting captures the view up the Tasman Valley towards Aoraki, Mt Cook and encompasses everything that is intrinsically 'New Zealand'.
