Our annual campervan journey from Canterbury to the West Coast over Arthur’s Pass resulted in another large painting which captures the immense beauty and ruggedness of the South Island landscape. Peter painted ‘Snow Melt, Waimakariri River’ from just above the Mt White Bridge looking up the vast watershed of the Waimakariri River basin, a glacial landscape of terraces and shingle fans framed by the majestic Southern Alps.
