Despite arriving en masse the minute the fish and chips are unwrapped near the beach or in a park, Red-billed gull numbers are decreasing at an alarming rate. They are now considered to be 'Nationally Vulnerable' possibly because of the changes to climate affecting water temperatures, sea currents and food supply. You have to admire their dapper dress sense and pristine appearance. They seldom appear scruffy, ruffled or 'down on their luck' even if they are hanging out at the local rubbish tip. I love the way Peter has painted Storm Bird against the moody sky.
