The golden granite sands of Tata Beach attract many visitors and residents alike. Tata Beach is our favourite place for swimming and snorkelling. We launch our kayaks here and explore the steep, limestone cliffs of the Tata Islands or paddle to Wainui Bay or Taupo Point. The sunsets from Tata Beach are unbelievable. Early beach walkers describe an interesting natural phenomenon, 100’s of shags lined up along shoreline at dawn. It was first thought that they were in conference, planning the day’s fishing activities, but ornithologists have concluded they are regurgitating crop stones and replacing them. This is a warm painting, you can almost feel the summer heat rising up from the granite sand.
