One of the many pleasures of living in Golden Bay are the numerous day walks within close proximity to our doorstep. We often take visitors and friends up to Rawhiti Cave on the Pikikiruna Range. The cave has national significance and has possibly the most diverse and extensive entrance and twilight‑zone flora of any cave in New Zealand. The track up to Rawhiti Cave follows Dry River which is, as it's name suggests, often dry in summer. In the autumn and winter the river flows again and deep green pools reflect the colours of the surrounding forest.
