This is another painting from the study I did of Arthur’s Pass National Park. I was standing in the dry riverbed of the Bealey River, near Arthur’s Pass at sundown. As the sun was setting behind the Southern Alps in the west, the mountains around me were glowing orange with the last rays of light. The brown hues of the grasses and stones, and the pewter-coloured river in the distance, contrast with the glow of these magnificant mountains.
