Brother-in-law Bill landed on the front lawn in a borrowed R22 helicopter and suggested he take Pete for a spin into Kahurangi National Park. It was a perfectly still winter's morning without a cloud in the sky. Although Pete felt slightly vulnerable flying in something so small ( a wheelbarrow with a rotor), and occasionally he had the urge to pedal, he did manage to get some amazing photos. This painting was inspired by that trip. The Anatoki Range features in the centre of the painting, with Devil River Peak to the right and The Dragons Teeth to the left.
